MexSabor

For MexSabor in Fresno’s River Park, I wanted to create a Mexican restaurant that felt colorful and energetic without relying on the expected. The design takes inspiration from Mexican folk art and traditional craftsmanship, then reinterprets it through a more graphic, contemporary lens. Saturated reds, greens, yellows and blues move throughout the space in custom artwork, sculptural wood elements and playful details, balanced by warm wood and simple black furnishings. One of the defining features is the bar, where colorful glass rounds are embedded into the façade, turning an everyday architectural element into something almost jewel-like. Oversized hand-carved forms, geometric wall art and the large-scale western-inspired mural give the restaurant its own visual language—bold, a little quirky and full of personality. The result is a space that feels distinctly Mexican, but fresh, art-driven and completely its own.
